Since 2005, fees at the California State University have tripled. The increase provides a barrier for young people seeking self betterment and economic security. The funding cuts behind these increases also led to enlarged class sizes, enlarged student loans, and enlarged problems in the areas like faculty pay and campus maintenance.
The Cal Poly Democrats vow to combat the slide in State support for California"s education system. In time, we look forward to reductions in student tuition and restored funding for California's public colleges. We will also monitor the decisions of the Cal Poly administration and of the Trustees of the CSU to ensure that they are in student"s best interests.
